NEWS RELEASE 25 November 2012
INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
On Sunday Carnmoggas Indoor Bowls Club will host Cornwall’s final match of the group stages of this year’s ESMBA Inter County Championship when Somerset are the visitors. Both the Premier and A Team matches will prove pivotal to the final outcome of the groups.
In the Premier Team competition Devon have an unassailable lead at the top of the table and have already qualified for the Main Championship. Just seven points split Dorset (88), Cornwall (84) and Somerset (81) for the minor places. With Devon playing Dorset on Saturday, Cornwall will start Sunday’s match knowing how many points they need to secure second place, provided they win on the day, and with it progression to the Main Championship.
In the A Team championship Somerset lead the way with 118 points with Cornwall just 2 points behind with Devon and Dorset more than 30 point behind. On recent form Cornwall will be confident of securing the match win over Somerset and with it top spot in the table and progression to the Main Championship.
Team Manager Chris Cawrse is expecting the same 40 players who played against Devon three weeks ago to again line up for Cornwall on Sunday.
COUNTY TRIPLES
Over the weekend 40 teams have been competing in the qualification competition for the County Triples with 20 teams on each day chasing the eight places available in the finals.
