CCSMBA NEWS RELEASE - 1 June 2014

CORNWALL COUNTY SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION
NEWS RELEASE 1st JUNE 2014

Conwall's top two short mat bowlers have accepted invitations to play in the English Short Mat Bowling Association's first Live streamed competition on Friday June 13 2014.

Peter Hore and Elise Daniell, who both play for the Holmans club based in Camborne, will compete in for the John Jackson Trophy at Bromsgrove Indoor Bowls Club.  The ESMBA has arranged for the competition to be filmed and streamed live on the internet on the day.

The objective is to promote the sport and to allow Short Mat bowlers to watch live games from the comfort of their own homes using internet links and also to promote the sport to people who may never have seen it before.  The links will be available on the ESMBA Facebook page, the ESMBA website and CCSMBA website.

The sport is accessible to a wide range of people and the ESMBA believe now is the right time to promote our sport by creating greater awareness.  The event will include players from around the country together with players from other codes to see how they compete against some of the best players in England.

During the day a singles competition will be played with four groups of four players playing against each other with two qualifiers from each group moving into the quarter finals.  There will also be a ladies competition between the four female bowlers.  In addition their will be some challenge matches and pairs games.  A show rink will see
a Quarter Final match, both Semi Finals and the Final of the main singles competition broadcast live.  A schedule of the live matches will be published next week.
