COUNTY LEAGUES
Latest league tables can be accessed via http://www.nicholastruscott.co.uk/ccsmba/content.php?pg=tabledisplay.

The line up for the end of season Bebbington Cup competition is taking shape with the first two teams confirmed.  Withiel Oaks will represent the Central area after topping the area league ahead of Ladock Chiefs.  Landrake will represent the East area after overhauling Callington Eagles in the closing weeks of the season.

The West Area looks as though it could come down to the very last last night of fixtures when Holmans host Newlyn Trinity Jowsters.  Holmans are currently 7 points ahead but Jowsters have a match (worth six points) in hand.

The North similarly looks as though it could go to the very last fixture.  Boscastle hold the top position and a 10 point lead over Blisland who they face at home on Thursday 2nd March.  If Boscastle overhaul the 19 shots they trail from the reverse fixture they will guarantee the title.  Blisland also have home fixtures against Wadebridge on Tuesday 28th February and Tintagel on Tuesday 7th March.  Blisland trial by 2 and 6 points respectively in the two fixtures.  Maximum points from the remaining 3 fixtures for Blisland will give them the title.

The team announced for the match is

The match gets underway at 1000 and it is hoped to bring live updates throughout the day on our social media channels.

SHORT MAT PLAYERS TOUR
Eight local bowlers travelled to Bromsgrove recently to compete in the Short Mat Players Tour English Masters.

Peter Hore (Holmans) had the best weekend of the local players involved coming through the group stages unbeaten before bowing out of the Cup competition in the round of 16 to eventual runner up Martin Simcock (Eng).  Peter now sits 63rd in the overall SMPT rankings and 20th in the Order of Merit.

David Studden (Holmans), making his SMPT debut, topped his group with 12 out of a possible 15 points to go through to the Cup competition where he lost to the eventual winner Joseph Beattie (IRE) in the round of 32.  David moves to 255th in the overall rankings and 113th in the Order of Merit.

Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) was the third bowler to make it through to the Cup competition scoring 7 points in his group.  In the Round of 64 Nigel lost to young Dorset player Alex Kley.  Nigel remains the top Cornwall player in the rankings lying 48th in the overall rankings and 17th in the Order of Merit.

Nicholas Truscott (Holmans) scored two wins in his group but could only make it through to the the Shield Competition where he enjoyed a run through to the Quarter Finals losing a tight match against eventual winner Adam Easthope (Eng).  After failing to win a game on Saturday Elise Daniell (Holmans) put together a run of wins on Sunday to also reach the Quarter Finals of the Shield where she lost out to Gethin Edwards (Wal) 4-15.  Gill Cawrse (Lostwithiel), on debut in SMPT competitions, similarly turned her fortunes around on Sunday to reach the round of 16 in the Shield where she lost out to Truscott 7-11.

Tom Westlake (Treviscoe) recorded a solitary win in his group which was enough to earn him a bye through to the round of 32 in the Shield where he lost on the last end to Easthope 7-9. Chris Selby (Holmans) won his final group game on Sunday morning but that was not enough to avoid a round of 64 match where Gunnar Frantzen (Nor) provided the opposition with the Norwegian prevailing 5-11.
