CORNWALL COUNTY TEAM
Last Sunday the County Team Trials were held at Carnmoggas Indoor Bowling Club giving Team Manager Gill Cawrse and Captains Nigel Nicholls & Tony Jago an opportunity to consider the make up of the the Premier and A Teams ahead of Sunday's first group game away to Somerset at Donyatt Indoor Bowling Club. Cornwall go into the season opener missing three regular members of the Premier Team, Nigel Nicholls, Peter Hore & Elise Daniell who are competing in the Short Mat Players Tour Irish Open in Belfast. Prior to Sunday's match the squad meet at Carnmoggas for a practice on Saturday.

SHORT MAT PLAYERS TOUR
The second event of the Short Mat Players Tour season, the Irish Open is being played in Belfast with a full entry of 216 bowlers. As already mentioned 3 local bowlers make the trip to Belfast, Nigel Nicholls, Peter Hore and Elise Daniell. In the Group stages they will line up against:-

Nigel's game against Nathan Haire has been scheduled for the Show Mat at 1545 on Saturday with live score updates on the Short Mat Players Tour website and possible live streaming on Facebook.
At the recent UK Open Nigel moved up to 3rd in the World Rankings after reaching the last 16 of the Cup competition. Peter Hore dropped 5 places to 35th after reaching the Quarter Finals of the Plate Competition. Martin Boraston, in only his second SMPT competition reached the last 32 of the Plate Competition. Luke Jolly also reached the same stage. Elise Daniell didn't win a game going out in the last 64 of the Shield competition.

SUMMER LEAGUE FINAL
Blisland are the 2018 Summer League Champions after winning both legs of the recent final . Keith Matthews, Max Burden & Betty Temple Smith won 14-12 against Nomads' Nigel Nicholls, Percy Tripp and Elise Daniell at Newlyn on 21st August and 18-7 at home to win 32-19 overall.
COUNTY COMPETITION ENTRIES
The closing date for entries into County Competitions is Saturday 15th September.
