INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
On Sunday Cornwall's county players travelled to Northampton for the finals of the ESMBA Inter County Championship Consolation Competition. The Premier team faced South West rivals Dorset whilst the A team faced Cambridgeshire.

Cornwall effectively wrapped up the title with a solid third session with wins for Peter Hore (23-5) and Nigel Nicholls (14-9) in the singles and Graham Reeves & Nicholas Truscott (12-16) in the pairs. With both sets of bonus points secured Cornwall moved on to 20 points to need just a single point from the final session.
Cornwall claimed a further two games in the final session, Henry Matthews, Gillian Cawrse & Percy Tripp (13-9) in the triples and Brenda Sleep, Patsy Wakeley, Max Burden & Chris Roberts (9-4). Cornwall claimed a further two bonus points in the fours to leave the final score Cornwall 26 points 189 shots Dorset 14 points 159 shots to see Cornwall claim the title which they last won in 1996.

A further shared session in the afternoon singles and pairs set up a tense final session, Cornwall's points scored by Luke Jolly (16-15) in the singles and Bill Sharp and Betty Temple-Smith (15-6) in the pairs. The bonus points were shared leaving the score at 14-14.
In the final session the game points were shared, Marion Keers, John Keers & Pam Williams (14-5) in the triples and Meg Horrell, Barbara James, Joe Dixon & Derek Newton (10-4) in the fours. Cornwall took both sets of bonus points to claim the match,and back to back titles, by 22 points to 18, 182-183 shots.
