CORNWALL COUNTY SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION - News Release 1st May 2021

CORNWALL COUNTY SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION
News Release 1st May 2021

Short Mat Bowling has returned on a limited basis since the 12th April with the ESMBA allowing one person or people from the same household to play at the same time where a club's venue is legally allowed to open.

It is expected that from the expected next stage of easing of restrictions on the 17th May 2021, where venues e.g. leisure facilities and community centres are open and allow indoor sports those Short Mat Bowls Clubs and County Associations that have "Safe Bowls" status can resume but must observe the condition that up to 6 bowlers from different households or members of 2 households can play on each mat.  This remains subject to final confirmation from the Government of any changes to restrictions from this date.

Further information regarding arrangements for play after the expected final stage of easing of restrictions on the 21st June 2021 are still to be confirmed by the ESMBA.

In order to return to bowling clubs are reminded that they must hold "Safe Bowls" status.  The ESMBA continues to warn that anyone found not adhering to ESMBA policy could face further action.

Cornwall's County Committee will meet virtually on Monday 10th May to discuss the latest information from the ESMBA, local plans for the 2021-2 season and arrangements for the completion of competitions put on hold at the start of the pandemic.
