Cornwall's Short Mat Bowls clubs that have been accredited with the English Short Mat Bowling Association's 'Safe Bowls' status have been able to restart sessions for Singles and Pairs, with Triples allowed after further accreditation has been achieved.
The ESMBA's latest update states that Internal Club competitions may take place Singles, Pairs and Triples (if approved) however these games must adhere strictly to the 'Rule of Six', Players cannot change mats, Players cannot play more than the games allowed in the 'Rule of Six' within the time frame of 12 hours. Eg A triple can only play 1 game within 12 hours but if 6 Singles players play in a group of 6 they could play each other within the time frame. No substitutes are allowed.
The ESMBA has again stated that 'Safe Bowls' status only applies to registered players.
The ESMBA has announced a significant revision to the format of the Inter County Championship for 2021/22 reducing the number of players involved in Inter County competition to a minimum of 16 per team. Players will be involved in fewer overall fixtures through the group stages with Home and Away fixtures being played on the same day with 8 players at Home and 8 players Away.
A newly issued calendar from the ESMBA shows that the outstanding Inter County Championship Semi Finals, for which Cornwall had not qualified, will be played over the weekend of 11th & 12th September. The postponed 2020 National Championships look set to be played the following weekend from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th September clashing with the previously announced Short Mat Players Tour Irish Open event. The Inter County Finals will be played on the 26th September.
