CORNWALL COUNTY SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION
News Release 28th February 2021
Cornwall's Short Mat Bowls clubs look set to remain closed under governments plans for easing of Coronavirus lockdown restrictions until at least 17th May when organised indoor adult sport is set to be permitted .
Having previously confirmed that no competitions will be played locally for the remainder of the 2020/21 season, Cornwall's management committee will meet on Monday 8th March to review the current situation and consider plans for next season. At the time of writing however the English Short Mat Bowling Association has not published its response to the government's easing of restrictions nor any calendar for the 2021/22 season.
It is still hoped that the outstanding local finals from the 2019/20 season including the Two Wood Singles, Four Wood Pairs, Bebbington Cup (League Finals), Champion of Champions, Team of Three and Rea Francis Club Championship can be concluded when the situation allows.
No confirmation has yet been given by the National Governing Body with regards to the 2019/20 National Championships for which Cornwall has a number of qualifiers.
