CCSMBA NEWS RELEASE 13 September 2015 County Trials On Sunday 50 bowlers came together at Carnmoggas Indoor Bowling Club under the watchful eyes of County Team Manager Nigel Nicholls and Team Captains Peter Hore and Max Burden. With Cornwall boasting nine of the current England squad in there ranks competition for the remaining team places was hard fought throughout the day with Manager and Captains facing some tough decisions in forming the final squad ahead of three weeks of fixtures for the Cornwall squad. First up Cornwall face England on Sunday (20 September) at Carnmoggas where a final chance to impress will be on offer for those on the cusp of making the Inter County team. The following weekend a reduced squad of 32 will play at Donyatt IBC in Somerset in the Inter County Rinks competitions before the full squad of 40 take on Devon at Carnmoggas on the 4 October in the first Inter County match of the season. England Team Visit Cornwall This weekend the full England Squad visit Cornwall for the first time in 20 years. Of the squad of 56 players named by Cornwall for Sundays match 5 featured 20 years ago. Stuart Hambly, Derek Swaby, Percy Tripp, Graham Ford & Kath Goodman. The format for the weekend will see the England squad, including Cornwall's 9 squad members, take part in a practice day on Saturday from approximately 0900 - 1700. On Sunday Cornwall will take on England in a match to mark 25 years of Short Mat Bowls in Cornwall. Pre match presentations will take place at around 0900 and four sessions of play should take the action through to around 1600.
