RAE FRANCIS COMPETITION
The first of the County Home and Away competitions was completed recently with first timers Penlee claiming the title with an aggregate win of 97 – 70 over five times winners and defending champions Lostwithiel.
The first leg, played at Lostwithiel saw Penlee claim a 9 shot advantage with wins in the Singles and Pairs whilst Lostwithiel claimed the Triples and Fours, the match score being Lostwithiel 39 Penlee 48.
The return leg, played at Bolitho SMBC, saw the games again shared two each with Penlee taking the Singles and Triples and Lostwithiel the Pairs and Fours. With shots determining the final result Penlee’s stronger scoring saw them come out as 49-31 winners.

Penlee team members in the final - Geoff Lane (Singles), Malcolm Furneaux/John Dollery (Pairs), Jean Pellow/Ian Clinch/Mike Jefferies (Triples), Jenny Lane/Mike Richards/Nigel Jelbart/Keith Williams (Rinks). Also played in earlier rounds - Gerry Hewett and Gerald Mildren.
ENGLAND
Holman’s member Peter Hore travelled to Shrewsbury for the final England squad weekend before the A Team Championships on 14th & 15th March at the same venue. A Northern Select team provided the opposition for the England Squad who overwhelmed the opposition with a score line of 119 points 1062 shots to 9 points 539 shots.
On Saturday Peter played at number three in the rinks with Alan Williams (Shropshire), Dave Lamb (Norfolk) & Keith Hawkins (West Sussex) winning both games, 18-8 and 11-10. In between Peter also made up a Triple with Mitchell Young (Essex) & Dominic Reed (Cheshire) again winning with a score of 15-10.
On Sunday Chris Page (West Sussex) replaced Dave Lamb in the rink. Two games played were both won with scores of 16-7 and 17-16.
