CORNWALL COUNTY SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION

NEWS RELEASE - Sunday 5th March 2023

County Finals

This coming weekend four County Short Mat Bowls County Championship titles will be decided at Carnmoggas Indoor Bowling Club.

First up on Saturday morning will be the Fours which get underway at 0900 with the Singles following at 1300.  On Sunday the Pairs will be played first, getting under way at 0900 with the Triples following at 1200.

Area Leagues & Bebbington Cup

St Newlyn East will join Duloe and Blisland in the Bebbington Cup on Saturday 25th March at Carnmoggas having secured the Central Area title in the past week with a 4-2 win away to Lostwithiel to move into an unassailable seven point lead over Withiel Oaks.

In the West Area, Newlyn Trinity hold a five point lead over Holmans going into the final week of fixtures.  Newlyn's remaining fixture is home to Hayle Foundry on Tuesday 7th March and Holmans conclude their season at Porthleven against the Fisherfolk on Thursday 9th March.

Inter Area Match

The Inter Area Match scheduled for Sunday 19th March has been cancelled and replaced with an open day for members between 1000 and 1500 with a £4 mat fee payable.

Champion of Champions

The County Champion of Champions will be played at Carnmoggas on the afternoon of Saturday 25th March.

National Championships

The National Championships will be played at the end of the month at Melton Mowbray Indoor Bowling Club.  The Singles will be played on Thursday 30th March, Pair on Friday 31st March, Fours on Saturday 1st April and Triples on Sunday 2nd April.
