View this email in your browser Cornwall County Short Mat Bowling Association News Release - 15 April 2018 Short Mat Players Tour Over the weekend Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) & Callum Beale (Withiel) competed in the Short Mat Players Tour World Masters at Belfast Indoor Bowling Club.  Nigel cruised through the groups with 5 wins out of five to take a place in the main cup competition where he lost 6-7 to Kevin Conroy in the last 64.  With 95 points added to his total and all his rivals also in the main cup competitions a potentially long wait to be certain of claiming the season's Order of Merit title.  Nigel's results can be found at https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/teammatches.aspx?id=944D35C6-7D0E-46AD-9A6A-CDFE25B12B41&tid=55 Second placed Stephen Proctor went out in the last 32 having ended fourth placed Jonathan Payne's run a round earlier.  Devon's James Trott and Essex's Dom Reed also went out in last 64.  This left the top three in the Order of Merit unchanged with Nigel taking the title to end a fine season where he claimed the British Open title in York in January and bronze medal in the English Masters in Chelmsford in February. In Friday's Belfast Open Pairs Nigel paired with Stephen Proctor to come through the group stage unbeaten to meet Sophie McIntyre & Caira Deighan losing 5-6 in the first round. Callum paired with Irish bowler Sean Trainor.  Losing both group games they found themselves in the Plate Competition where they reached the Semi Finals losing 6-8.
