The Western Area League came to a dramatic conclusion on Thursday evening when Holmans hosted Newlyn Trinity Jowsters at Blaythorne Camborne.
Jowsters went into the match 6 points ahead of the hosts but behind on shot difference with 6 points on offer for the match.
In the first of the two games Elise Daniell, Janet Williams, John Peters and David Studden for the hosts were never headed recording a 12-6 win against Jowsters' Rose Dyer, Robert James, Ray Jeffery & Percy Tripp.
The second game saw Kathryn Watson, Chris Selby, Nicholas Truscott & Peter Hore for the hosts start slowly to trail 1-8 after four of the twelve ends against Ronald Thomas, John Thomas, Mike Dyer and Nigel Nicholls. The home team scored on the next four ends, including a count of 5 on the seventh end to lead 10-8 after eight ends. The ninth end saw Jowsters take 1 before Holmans took scores of 1 and 2 on the tenth and eleventh ends to lead by four going into the last end. A tight head of bowls on the final end left Jowsters only able to pick up one shot to give the game win to Holmans 13-10. Holmans claim the West Division title on shot difference +308 shots to Jowsters +284 shots after both teams finished on 116 points and 37 games won.
Holmans will represent the West area in the Bebbington Cup on Sunday when the will compete against the other area league winners Withiel Oaks (Central), Boscastle (North) and Landrake (East). At the same time the Division One winners will also compete against each other with Larrigan (Penlee) for the West, St Agnes Gulls for Central, Lanreath Reds for East and Poughill for North taking part.

On Sunday afternoon club champions will gather at Carnmoggas for the Champion of Champions competition.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Next weekend Cornwall will be well represented at the English Short Mat Bowling Association National Championships. The bowlers who have qualified are
Singles (Thursday) Nigel Nicholls and Karen Watson.
Pairs (Friday) Peter Hore & Karen Watson and Tom Westlake & Luke Jolly.
Fours (Saturday) Elise Daniell, David Studden, Peter Hore & Karen Watson and Richard Brown, Sandra Worton, John Worton & Chris Roberts.
Triples (Sunday) Ray Jeffery, Nigel Nicholls & Gill Cawrse and David Studden, Peter Hore & Karen Watson.
Elise Daniell, David Studden, Peter Hore & Karen Watson also competed in the Mixed Fours on the 25th March reaching the Semi Finals where they narrowly lost 5-6 to a team from the West Midlands. They came through the group stages unbeaten recording wins of 11-3, 8-6 & 13-5. In the last 16 they won 20-2 against a team from Surrey and in the Quarter Finals an Essex team was defeated 6-4.
