| | CCSMBA NEWS RELEASE 17 April 2016 TLH National Top Team Three teams travelled to Torquay over the weekend to take part in the Torquay Leisure Hotels/ESMBA National Top Team competition. Treviscoe qualified from the group stages into the main competition but lost to last year's winners Smallthorne Pioneer from Staffordshire in first knock out round losing all 4 games. Truro failed to make the top two in there group and went through to the plate and losing in the first knock out round to Kingscliffe from Somerset. Holmans also went into the plate beating Somerset team Templecombe in the first knock out round. The semi finals saw them defeat Dicks Devils from Worcestershire to set up a final against Kingscliffe. Peter Hore picked up 4 on last end of the singles against Andrew Cowlin to win 10-8. Elise Daniell, Martin Boraston, Neil Gribble and Nigel Nicholls won comfortably in the fours, 11-2 against a rink skipped by Keith Hawkins. Gillian Cawrse and Nigel Nicholls drew the pairs to secure the overall win leaving a loss in the triples for Elise, Neil and Peter irrelevant as the bonus points for shots were safe. Holmans have an impressive record in the Competition having won main title in the inaugural event in 2014, finishing second in the main in 2015 and winning the Plate in 2016. County Presentation and AGM On Sunday the Carnmarth Hotel in Newquay hosts the Annual Presentation Meal and Annual General Meeting of the CCSMBA getting under way at 12.30. England Trials Over the weekend of 30 April/1 May the England Team Trials will take place in Tamworth where Cornwall's current Squad members will have there opportunity to play for a place in the 2016/7 England Squad. Summer League The summer league will have a record 20 teams offering a packed bowling calender for those who look to continue playing through the summer. | | | | | | |
