County Four Wood Singles Over the weekend 63 players competed for 8 places in the County Four Wood Singles Finals towards the end of the season. On Saturday 33 players competed in the Round Robin stages split into 8 groups. Dennis Shorthouse (Landrake) won Group One with 6 points +21 shots. Group Two went the way of Tony Jago (Treviscoe) with 6 +14. Fred Spurr (Centenary) topped Group Three with 4 +11. Richard Brown (Ladock) came through Group Four with 6 +10. Richard Kerr (Landrake) won Group Five with 4 points +26 shots. Group Six went the way of Alan Holden (Landrake) with 6 +13. Kevin Williams (Porthleven) topped Group Seven with 6 +34, the days best score. Chris Roberts (Ladock) completed the qualifiers for the knock out round coming through Group Eight with 6 +24. In the Knock Out round Richard Brown won 11-4 against Fred Spurr. Richard Kerr edged past Chris Roberts 11-10. Tony Jago won by the same scoreline against Kevin Williams and in an all Landrake match up Alan Holden defeated Dennis Shorthouse 13-3. On Sunday 30 players competed in the Round Robin stages split into 7 groups. Sandra Worton (Ladock) won Group One with 6 points +27 shots, the days best score. Group Two went the way of John Worton (Ladock) with 4 +11. Peter Hore (Holmans) topped Group Three with 6 +19. Martin Williams (Penlee) came through Group Four with 4 +7. Brenda Sleep (Dobwalls) won Group Five with 6 points +4 shots. Group Six went the way of Graham Ford (Ladock) with 6 +23. John Dodd (Truro) completed the qualifiers for the knock out round coming through Group Seven with 4 +17. Ed Dyer (Landrake) completed the line up for the knock out round taking the top runners up spot with 4 +15. In the Knock Out round John Worton defeated Sandra Worton 8-5. Ed Dyer won 13-11 against Peter Hore. Martin Williams won 9-6 against Graham Ford and in the final game Johnn Dodd became the first Truro club member to reach a county final defeating Brenda Sleep 11-10. County Fours On Saturday 22 teams are entered in the County Fours competition at Carnmoggas with eight teams going forward to the County Finals at the end of the season.
Inter County Championship On Sunday Somerset visit Carnmoggas for Cornwall's second Inter County match of the season. The Premier Team need to bounce back from a heavy defeat at home to Devon whilst the A Team will look to build on the victory against Devon last time out. British Isles Championships Cornwall's nine England Squad members have learnt how they will line up in the British Isles Championships to be played in Aberdeen over the weekend of 14th & 15th November. Reigning National Fours Champions Tom Westlake (Treviscoe), Luke Jolly (Treviscoe), Ed Dyer (Landrake) and Karen Watson (Saltash) will take there place in the Fours. Also lining up in the main championship rinks competition will be Peter Hore (Holmans) who join Ryan Knight (Gloucestershire), Gareth Davies and AJ Brown (Oxfordshire). Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) joins Adam Sultana (Essex), Malcolm Follis (West Mids) & Barry Hedges (Essex). In the A Team Championships David Studden (Holmans) will play with Peter Roberts (Cheshire) in Pairs. Gillian Cawrse (Lostwithiel) teams up with Oliver Hipkiss (Gloucestershire) and Simon Warnes (Norfolk) in Triples. Elise Daniell (Holmans) will play in the rinks competition alongside Peter Roberts, Nicky Bartlett (Kent) and Keith Hawkins (Somerset).
