INTER AREA LEAGUE

 

The Cornwall Short Mat Bowls season rounded off on Sunday with the final round of Inter Area League games rearranged from January.  Going into the round of matches 2 pints separated the East, West and Central areas at the top of the table.

 

The West started well in their match against Central taking 5 out of a possible 8 points from the first session of Singles and Fours.  Session Two, the first for the Pairs and Triples saw West repeat the 5-3 advantage to lead 10-6 at the halfway point.  The third session, Singles and Fours, again saw West take a 5-3 advantage to lead 15-9.  West took the final session 6-2 to claim the match win 25 points 200 shots to 11 points 149 shots after the addition of the 4 bonus points for most shots.

The North seriously dented the East’s title ambitions taking a 7-1 advantage form the first session of their match.  East responded strongly in the second session with a 6-2 points advantage.  The third session again saw the North make the best of the Singles and Fours with a 6-2 advantage to lead 15-9 with a session to play.  The final session saw the East repeat their morning session score in the Pairs and Triples to claim the session 6-2 and leave the match score reading North 17 points 157 shots East 15 points 184 shots, the extra shots ensuring that the East gained the 4 bonus points and win the match 19-17 overall.

The association’s Annual General Meeting will be held at Luxulyan Village Hall on Sunday (25 April) afternoon starting at 1430.

 

SUMMER LEAGUE

 

18 entries have been received for the 2010 Summer League and fixtures are currently being finalised with the first matches during week commencing Sunday 9 May 2010.
