INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Cornwall are back in Inter County Championship action on Sunday when both the Premier and A Teams travel to Exeter to face Devon at the Isca Indoor Bowling Club.
After the disappointing result against Dorset three weeks ago the Premier Team will be looking to make up ground to the other counties in the group. Team Manager Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) returns to the team in the Singles, Austen Runnells (Luxulyan) and Neil Gribble (Landrake) come into the Fours with Graham Reeves (Landrake) and Gary Davey (Liskeard) dropping to the A Team.
The A Team will be looking to follow up their win away to Dorset with another solid result.

COUNTY FOURS
On Saturday the County Fours will be played at Carnmoggas with play getting under way at 0900 and expected to continue to around 1500. Eight teams will progress from the day to the County Finals in March.
SHORT MAT PLAYERS TOUR
Over the past weekend four local bowlers travelled to Norway for the Short Mat Players Tour Norwegian Open tournament.
Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) had the best results of the four reaching the Quarter Finals of the Cup competition. Drawn in Group 12 Nigel lost his first game against Paul Cairnduff (NIR) 7-10 before winning his remaining four group games against Robert Kidd (NIR) 9-8, Johan Andersson (SWE) 12-9, Tom Erik Johnsen (NOR) 17-9 and John Jillings (WAL) 13-8 to top the group and progress to the main Cup competition. In the last 32 Nigel defeated Jonas Häger (SWE) 12-7.

The last 16 Nigel edged past Dimitri Payne (BEL) 8-7 before losing 12-13 to Ed Sawbridge (END) in the Quarter Finals. The weekend's results see Nigel move back into the Top 10 of the SMPT World Rankings and 7th in this season's Order of Merit standings.
Elise Daniell (Holmans) was drawn in Group 15 where she started with wins against Stephen Oliver (IRE) 8-7 and Åke Almli (SWE) 11-7. Defeats followed to Lee Whiteley (ENG) 6-14 and Olle Bäckgren (SWE) by the same score. A 14-4 win in the Sunday mornings final group game against Hege Strand Aarnes (NOR) left Elise on 9 points with Whiteley and Bäckgren but placed the lowest of the three due to the head to head scores. In the last 64 of the Plate Competition Elise won 15-7 against Angharad Brideaux (WAL). In the last 32 Elise defeated Pontus Guldestam (SWE) 14-3 before losing to Paul Cairnduff (NIR) 15-2 in the last 16. Elise has moved up 9 places in the World Rankings to 36th.
David Studden (Holmans), playing his first SMPT competition since the 2018/19 season, was drawn in Group 7. David started Saturday with a defeat to Gary McNabb (NIR) 9-13 and then followed with three wins against Finn Arild Zinder Aarnes (NOR) 15-6, David Ryste (NOR) 10-9 and Ferdinand Frantzen (NOR) 14-7. Sunday's final group game saw defeat to Joakin Jensen (NOR) 7-12 to finish third in the group. In the last 32 of the Plate Competition David won 11-5 against Gary Moore (NIR) before losing 9-8 in the last 16 to eventual Plate winner Pauline Beattie (NIR).
Peter Hore (Holmans) was drawn in Group 2 where he started with a win against Bjørn H Haukjem (NOR) 13-8, Peter's second game saw defeat to Catherine McCrossan (NIR) 9-15 before completing Saturday's games with a win against Joel Häger (SWE) 12-9 and a draw against Tina Thyden (SWE) 10-10). Sunday morning's final group game against Olav Jeremiassen (NOR) ended in defeat 11-9 to leave Peter third in the group. In the last 32 of the Plate Peter lost 5-15 to Rune Kløvtveit (NOR) 5-15. Peter drops 6 places in the rankings to 37th.
The next SMPT competitions are over the weekend of 26th and 27th November with the World Fours and Pairs in Belfast. Singles competition returns on the weekend of the 7th and 8th January with the British Open in York.
