COUNTY CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS (2019/20 season)

On Sunday afternoon the County Champion of Champions for the 2019/20 season was played with 10 players competing in a straight knockout format.

A preliminary round saw Withiel's Callum Beale defeat Boscastle's David Topliffe 15-8.  Newlyn Trinity's Simon Lees won 14-5 against Landrake's Dennis Shorthouse.

Into the Quarter Finals Beale needed an extra end to defeat Lees 11-9.  Brenda Sleep (Dobwalls) won 14-9 against Howard McCormack (Penlee).  Peter Skinner (Saltash) won 15-3 against Keith Richards (Helston).  Peter Hore (Holmans) won 14-2 against Carole Dodd (St Newlyn East).

In the semi finals Beale defeated Sleep 14-6 and Hore won 12-7 against Skinner.  Beale quickly opened up a 6-0 lead over the opening three ends of the final.  Hore pulled back three shots on the fourth end with Beale extending his lead once more with one the fifth end.  Scores of two and one to Hore on the next two ends brought him back into contention with four ends to play.  An exchange of ones to Beale on the eighth end and Hore on the ninth end saw Beale maintain the one shot lead with two ends to play.  Beale extended his lead on the tenth end with a score of two.  The final end went the way of Hore who picked up a three to level the match and force an extra end which Hore took by one shot to win 11-10.
