CORNWALL COUNTY SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION
NEWS RELEASE- 30 October 2021

COUNTY FOUR WOOD PAIRS

On Saturday 30th October 24 pairings competed in the County Four Wood Pairs at Carnmoggas Indoor Bowling Club with eight places in the County Finals up for grabs.

The teams were divided into 6 groups with the six groups winners and two best runners up qualifying.

Group One was topped by Max Burden & Keith Matthews (Blisland) with 6 points +22 shots, Elise Daniell & Peter Hore (Holmans) also qualifying from the group with 4 +35.  Group Two was topped by Sandra & John Worton (St Newlyn East) with 6 +14,  Ray Jeffery & Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) also qualifying with 4 +27.

Bob Smith (Porthleven) & Percy Tripp (Newlyn Trinity) topped Group Three with 6 +21.  Alan Holden & Des Pengelly (Landrake) topped Group Four with 6 +17.  Group Five was topped by Dave Hickey & Fran Phillips (Helston) with 6 +25.  Final qualifiers for the finals were David Balow (Marazion) & Mike Dyer (Penlee) with 6 +31 in Group Six.

The qualifiers will return to Carnmoggas in March for the finals.

COUNTY COMPETITIONS

Draws for the County Competitions have been made and published on the County Association website with the overall number of entries markedly down on the numbers in recent seasons.

The next events in the County Calendar are the League Finals and County Champion of Champions for the 2019/20 season which will be played at Carnmoggas on Sunday 14th November.
