NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Cornwall's Peter Hore was runner up in today's English Short Mat Bowling Association National Singles Championship losing to Devon's Benny Bass in the final.
Peter came through the group stages as runner up in Group 3 winning two of the three games. The first round of the knockout stages saw Peter defeat Devon's Graham James 8-7. Surrey's Derek Johns was defeated 11-9 in the third round to set up a Quarter Final match against East Sussex's Andrew Beard which Peter won 11-4. A 9-7 scoreline against Cheshire's Matty Worden saw Peter through to the final which Benny won 14-1.
Nigel Nicholls was unbeaten in the group stages and defeated Somerset's Andrew Cowlin 14-8 in the second round before losing 12-3 to Benny in the third round.
Friday see's Nigel Nicholls and James Smith compete in the Pairs.
