SHORT MAT PLAYERS TOUR

Over the weekend four bowlers from Cornwall travelled to York to compete in the Short Mat Players Tour British Open.  

Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity), defending the title won 12 months ago, progressed the furthest reaching the Last 32 of the Cup Competition.  Four wins from five games in the group stages saw Nigel 2nd in Group 27.  In the first round of the knockout Nigel defeated Andy Howard (NIR) 11-2 before losing 10-6 to Stephen Williams (WAL) 10-6 in the second round, last 32.  Nigel's full results can be found here https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/teammatches.aspx?id=1E21A2BA-F3F4-4F6D-BC4A-357F7A105406&tid=27.

Elise Daniell (Holmans) finished fourth in Group 10 with a win and a draw from four games to progress into the Plate Competition.  In the first round Elise defeated Christopher Hillier (WAL) 15-6.  The second round saw Elise defeat Alistair Mahaffy (NIR) 12-10 before defeat in the third round (Last 16) to Robert Lenza (SCO) 5-11.  Elise's full results can be found here https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/teammatches.aspx?id=1E21A2BA-F3F4-4F6D-BC4A-357F7A105406&tid=40.

The next Players Tour event is in a months time with the English Masters in Chelmsford over the weekend of 9th & 10th February with a number of local bowlers entered.

INTER COUNTY RINKS FINALS

The ESMBA have announced that the finals of the Inter County Rinks, due to be played over the weekend of 26th and 27th January will now be played in April due to unforeseen circumstances.

COUNTY & NATIONAL OVER 55 PAIRS

On Sunday the County Over 55 Pairs will be played at Carnmoggas.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Cornwall's allocations for the National Championships have been advised.  Competing at the Championships later in the season will be;

Singles:  Peter Hore (Holmans), Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity)

Pairs: Nigel Nicholls & James Smith (Newlyn Trinity)

Triples: David Studden (Holmans), Nigel Nicholls & James Smith (Newlyn Trinity), John Thomas, Mike Dyer (Newlyn Trinity) & Peter Hore (Holmans)

Fours: John Thomas, Mike Dyer, Kevin Williams & Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity)

Mixed Fours: Elise Daniell (Holmans), Gill Cawrse (Newlyn Trinity), Callum Beale (Withiel) & Peter Hore (Holmans)

Over 55 Pairs: To be determined on Sunday.
