Cornwall County Short Mat Bowling Association News Release - 28 January 2018 ESMBA Inter County Rinks On Sunday Cornwall's Premier Team competed in the ESMBA Inter County Rinks Finals at Daventry Indoor Bowling Club. Cornwall came through the group stages unbeaten with wins against Somerset, West Sussex and Surrey to set up a final against West Midlands. Cornwall started well in the final leading 16-13 after 4 ends and 22-18 after 6 ends. West Midlands moved ahead by 31-25 after 9 ends going on to win 37-32. Cornwall were represented by Rose Dyer (Newlyn Trinity), Mike Dyer (Newlyn Trinity), Glynn Roy (Withiel), Graham Reeves (Saltash), Gary Davey (Landrake), Luke Jolly (Withiel), Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity), Peter Hore (Holmans), Chris Roberts (Ladock), Elise Daniell (Holmans), Dennis Shorthouse (Landrake), Callum Beale (Withiel), Gill Cawrse (Lostwithiel), Martin Boraston (East Taphouse), David Studden (Holmans), James Smith (Lostwithiel). The Premier Team are back in action on the 18th February when they will face the winners of this weekends ICC Knockout Preliminary Round match between Essex and Herefordshire. Short Mat Players Tour English Masters Over the weekend of 10th & 11th February the Short Mat Players Tour English Masters will be played at the Falcon Bowling & Social Club, Chelmsford with a number of local bowlers entered. With two ranking tournaments left this season Newlyn's Nigel Nicholls, winner of last months British Open, will be looking for another strong performance to retain top spot in the Order of Merit and a place in August's World Cup.
