NEWS RELEASE 8th MARCH 2015

COUNTY FINALS

Two Wood Singles winner Ed Dyer and Runner Up Breda Sleep.
On Saturday the finals of the County Two Wood Singles and Four Wood Pairs were played at Carnmoggas Indoor Bowling Club.

First up was the Two Wood Singles.  In the Quarter Finals David Balow (Marazion) defeated Karen Watson (Saltash) 17-4.  Ed Dyer (Landrake) won a close match against Peter Skinner (Saltash) 10-9.  Richard Kerr (Landrake) won a close match against Betty Temple-Smith (Luxulyan) 11-10 and Brenda Sleep (Dobwalls) defeated Robert Flower (Tintagel) 13-6.

In the Semi Finals Dyer defeated Balow 12-11 and Sleep won 11-9 against Kerr.  Dyer comfortably won the final 14-3.

Four Wood Pairs winners Peter Hore and Elise Daniell 
Upon completion of the Singles attention turned to the Four Wood Pairs.  The Quarter Finals saw Sandra & John Worton (Ladock) defeat David Balow & Roy Sumner (Marazion) 13-7.  Luke Jolly (Treviscoe) & Karen Watson (Treviscoe) won 9-4 against Carol & Graham Ford (Ladock).  Elise Daniell & Peter Hore (Holmans) won 7-4 against Neil Gribble (Landrake) & Gillian Cawrse (Lostwithiel) and in the final game 
Graham Luke & Richard Brown (Ladock) were 8-6 winners against Gordon & Jenny Smith (Treviscoe).

Two high scoring Semi Finals saw Jolly & Watson defeat the Wortons 14-2 and Daniell & Hore win 19-4 against Luke & Brown.  The final was won by Daniell & Hore 7-5 against Jolly & Watson.

On Saturday evening Daniell and Hore travelled to Blisland for the second leg of the County Mixed Pairs final against Max Burden and Betty Temple-Smith with a 2 shot lead for Thursday's first leg at Holmans.  After 7 ends Burden & Temple Smith had moved into an aggregate lead of 3.  Consecutive scores of 3,2,1 over the next 3 ends re-established the lead for Daniell and Hore who went on to win 30-24 over the two legs.

This weekend attention turns to the main County Championships with the Singles and Fours on Saturday and Pairs and Triples on Sunday.  Full details can be found here http://bit.ly/CCSMBAFinals.

Newlyn Trinity's Nigel Nicholls will be in Bromsgrove taking part in the annual St Georges Cup fixture involving teams of 32 bowlers representing North v South in a Ryder Cup style competition.  More info http://www.stgeorgescup.co.uk/.
