Cornwall County Short Mat Bowls Association celebrates one year to go to the London 2012 Games
Cornwall County Short Mat Bowling Association (CCSMBA) is offering an opportunity for individuals or community group leaders to sample the sport of Short Mat Bowls as part of the London 2012 Open Weekend supported by BP – a series of sporting and cultural events taking place across the UK which will see hundreds of thousands of people participating in events to celebrate the ‘One Year to
Go’ countdown to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
On Sunday 24 July 2011 the CCSMBA will be hosting a ‘Come and Try’ session at the Association’s new venue for County Competitions at Fowey Community Leisure Centre from 1100 – 1500. The event is open to all with experienced players and county officials on hand to offer advice.
The CCSMBA’s ‘Come and Try’ day is one of hundreds of other Open Weekend challenges – ranging from an outdoor screening of The Tate Movie in Trafalgar Square to a celebration of Jamaican culture in the centre of Birmingham. Full listings can be found at www.london2012.com/openweekend.

Wanderers, Tintagel Heralds, Tintagel Knights and Boscastle Bees will now play a further round of 6 games each to determine the East Area winners who will face the Western Division Winners in the end of season County Final. The remaining teams will play in a plate knockout competition with Boscastle Birds playing Camelford and St Tudy playing Blisland during w/c 24 July 2011.
