INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
The Cornwall ‘A’ Team travelled to Northampton on Saturday (13 February) in the first match in their bid to retain the ESMBA Inter County Championship Consolation title.  Opponents in the Quarter Final match were Hampshire, the side Cornwall beat the claim the title last year.
Hampshire made the best of the first session of Singles and Pairs claiming 5 points to Cornwall’s 3.  Cornwall’s points coming from Singles player David Griffin (21-6) and the pairing of Henry Kendall and Carolyn Stanley (14-14).  Cornwall responded in the second session, Triples and Fours, claiming three wins out of four to take the overall lead in the match 9 points to 7.  Recording for the points for Cornwall were Jim Stanley, Anthony Jago & Brenda Sleep (13-6),  Jim Rule, Marilyn Stewart & Arthur Hambly (17-10) in the Triples and Marion Keers, Joyce Ward, John Keers & Norman Ward (10-7) in the Fours.
The third session, the afternoon Singles and Pairs, saw Cornwall further extend their lead with a 5-3 advantage in the session thanks to wins in the singles for David Griffin (21-6) and Graham Reeves (19-9), and draw in the Pairs for Henry Kendall and Carolyn Stanley (14-14).  The final session also went the way of Cornwall with three wins securing the match win earned by Jim Stanley, Anthony Jago & Brenda Sleep (10-7) in the Triples, Marion Keers, Joyce Ward, John Keers & Norman Ward (8-5) and Meg Horrell, Camilla Cawrse, Betty Temple-Smith & Peter Hamley (11-8).
Cornwall secured bonus points in the Singles, Triples and Fours to make the final score Cornwall 26 points 194 shots Hampshire 14 points 161 points.  Cornwall opponents in the semi finals on Saturday 27 February will be Cheshire.

The Cornwall ‘Premier’ Team were scheduled to play in the Quarter Finals on Saturday 20 February in the same competition but opponents Staffordshire have withdrawn from the competition putting Cornwall through to the Semi Finals on Saturday 27 February.
WESTERN DIVISION TRIPLES
On Saturday 30 teams competed in the Western Division Triples competition at Marazion Community Centre.  The competition was played to a demanding straight knockout format requiring successful team to be on the ball from game one.
The semi finals saw Roy Christophers, Ken Banfield & Percy Tripp  (Helston) defeat John Dollery, Keith Williams & Malcolm Furneaux (Penlee) 13-10 and Elise Daniell, Nicholas Truscott & Peter Hore (Holmans) take well earned 17-9 win against Christine Coxall, Len Coxall & Ronnie Thomas (Newlyn Trinity).  A well contested 12 end final eventually went the way of the Holmans trio 15-8 with an end to spare.
